Education

I graduated from Washington State University with a B.A. Degree in Interior Design in 1981. While at WSU, I also took many classes in art, art history, architecture, architectural drafting, rendering techniques and perspective drawing.

Interior Design Experience

I worked for several years for a Seattle interior design firm in the 1980's that had a full service residential and commercial division. Many residential projects included custom design of furniture, carpet, window treatments and cabinetry. Commercial projects included executive offices, marine, medical and hospitality.

In 1988, I began my own full service interior design business specializing in residential design. My largest project, beginning in 1990, was a new construction 14,000+ square foot residence in Woodinville, Washington which was later featured in The Seattle Times Pacific Magazine, October 10, 1993 issue. I had successfully assisted this client on a previous home remodel project and had established a good working relationship with them. I was involved in the selection of surface materials and finishes, furnishings, window treatments, decorative lighting, artwork, and accessories. In addition, I designed and drafted detailed drawings for all of the custom cabinetry for the home with the exception of the kitchen.

In 2008, I have specialized as an interior color consultant and I'm no longer doing full service interior design—the main difference being that clients don’t purchase furnishings and products through me anymore. As a consultant, I am able to give clients professional expertise and guidance for their project—which enables them to more confidently and expertly shop for the products on their own.
